The program Crack Growth applies ( 5b) to calculate the elapsed time it takes for a crack to grow between initial and final user -specified sizes.

The user must incorporate the necessary elastic and plastic configuration factors into the Pascal source code, so the compiled program is not available for downloading.

A dialogue appears below :

Title : Example from Fracture Mechanics Notes
Enter, for the material -
yield strength : 1400 Note consistent MPa, m units
     plane strain toughness : 50
     Paris index : 4.4
     reference growth rate : 0 Default 1 mm/Mc
     corresponding K-range : 5.7
and, for the configuration -
     component reference width : 0.010
     cyclic stress limits : 150 250
         so, critical normalised size 0.629
     normalised crack limits : 0.1 1
so, elapsed time is 6.65E+5 cycles
End of program
