Kit

The kit available for the Aircraft Undercarriage project consists of a limited number of standard engineering materials together with some project specific materials. The standard materials and components are identified below with further information included in the standard MDP kit catalogue on the CD. Specialised components and materials are listed below complete with dimensional information and material specifications were appropriate.

If teams wish to use components or materials not on the lists below this must be agreed with the mentors.

• Standard Structural materials available:

  • 2x Mild steel sheet, 0.7mm thick (450 x 450 mm maximum)
  • Mild steel tube, 5/16 inch outside diameter x 21 swg (600 mm long)
  • Mild steel tube, 3/8 inch outside diameter x 22 swg (600 mm long)
  • Mild steel rod, 4 mm diameter (600 mm long)
  • HS steel rod, 4 mm square
  • Mild steel rod, 6 mm diameter (300 mm long)
  • Aluminium angle, 12.5 x 12.5 x 1.6 mm (600 long maximum)

  • M3 x 10, 20, socket head cap screws
